awakening into connection
Thoughts following the US action in Iraq
We’re all on the journey towards connection and coherence, exploring at whatever rate seems right to us – and then we wake up and find that the world has descended into chaos.
At times like this, it’s easy to fall into tribal narratives – whatever our tribe may be, we know our side is right and the other side is wrong. Which is largely the old-paradigm thinking that got us to this in the first place. Instead, those of us who believe in a different future, need to find ways to be grounded and balanced – we need to be the balance for the world. Every bit of research shows that the more we can change our own energy, the more we can become heart coherent, the more we can shift out of crisis-ridden Beta brain patterns into alpha or even theta, the more the people around us come into balance. The ripple effects spreads out.

The Others Within Us: Meeting our Spirit Guides and other entities with Bob Falconer
Our world is more magical than we know – more than we can know. Increasing numbers of us are realising that the ‘citadel theory of mind’ where we see ourselves as isolated units within the boundaries of our own skulls is not how the world works. But if it isn’t, then how do we engage with the web of life and all that’s around it in ways that are respect, reciprocal and generative?

Bonus: Thoughts from the Edge – If the current system is not fit for purpose, what’s our core response?
The current system is not broken – it is doing what it was always designed to do – which is to shovel wealth and power from the many to the few at a human scale and from the more-than-human world to the industrial/technical maw of predatory capitalism at an ecological scale.

Wellbeing: It’s about wholeness, not happiness – with Dr Mark Fabian, author of Beyond Happy
We grow up thinking we want to be happy (or at least, not-sad). But happiness isn’t enough. What we need is wellbeing, and as Dr Mark Fabian quotes in the dedication to his book, Beyond Happy, “Wellbeing is about wholeness, not happiness, and wholeness is so much more demanding than happiness.’

A Longing for Belonging: Shifting the Cultural Paradigm with Looby Macnamara and Leona Johnson
We are in the midst of the Great Derangement (thank you Amitav Ghosh) – so what tools will help us shape a system that is actually fit for purpose? Who are our elders and what can they teach us? How do we learn to listen to our heart’s (and hearts’) desire and shape the communities of place, passion and purpose that will allow us to emerge into a different culture?

Modernity is collapsing around us. So how can we compost its remains, to grow something constructive, generative, connected communities that can act as a bridge from where we are towards that future we’d be proud to leave behind?
